BINDING: Technically called Lay-Flat, it is more Lay-Flat'ish. To lay flat open on your desk, the planner requires breaking in, akin to doing squats in a new pair of jeans. Link to video below
BREAKING IT IN: Open the planner (do this to 4 or 5 sections throughout the book) laying it face down on a flat surface, and press down on the spine, applying a healthy/robust (without being dramatic) amount of pressure. This will condition the spine and soften it so the planner breaks in - it gets better with just a bit of time and pressure. video *

FROM THE MAKERS: Virtually all other planners on the market are destined for landfill due to the way they are bound (book-bound, spiral-bound, cloth-bound).
This results in massive paper waste as the recyclable paper in those planners is permanently removed from the recycling stream, and the paper in landfill contributes methane emissions to the atmosphere.
*nothing composts in a landfill - whatever goes in, is lost to the natural world forever.
We consulted with local waste haulers on designing a planner that can go straight into your paper recycling bin.
When finished with the planner, place used planner in the paper recycling bin - If inclined, tear off the front and back covers placing everything in the paper recycling bin - this makes it easier for recycling haulers to access the white (interior) paper that often fetches higher recycling $$, while still recycling the cover paper as well.
WHY IS IT EXPENSIVE?: Why is this planner not cheap (i.e. "expensive")?
It's due to the costs associated with producing a product of this quality and environmental standards. No other manufacturer does it because it's incredibly hard, and they opt to maximize profit, regardless of the fact that it is at the cost of the planet and natural resources.
Modern Day Capitalism = Everyone is incentivized to trash the planet. The "winners" (aka the richest businesses and people) are the ones pushing us the fastest toward the cliff of extinction, while society celebrates them for their success.
To make a planner in the United States, out of 100% Recycled Paper, that is 100% Curbside Recyclable (no other mass produced planners are), and to have it fulfilled 100% Plastic Free, is the equivalent of swimming upstream (up the waste stream) backwards. But we're stubborn, and massively "concerned" about the state of the planet's natural resources and increasingly short supply of producers who give a damn. If we couldn't produce the best, most environmentally thoughtful products, we'd just stop and go back to filling our time with beach clean ups and volunteering. If we're going to have a business, this is how we do it - there is no other way for us.
A purchase from Wisdom Supply Co. is an investment in a greenwash-free business carving out space for sustainability in a sea of mass produced garbage and greenwashing. We’re the real deal making real deal closed loop products here in the U.S. Ours is the only 100% Recycled Planner that is also 100% Curbside Recyclable.
If a planner isn't curbside recyclable, it’s “mixed materials waste” and regardless of whether or not you put it in a recycling bin, the planner and the paper it contains will end up in a landfill.
